Bi-Sr-Ca-Cu-O (BSCCO) system

The Bi-Sr-Ca-Cu-O (BSCCO) system is a multilayered perovskitic structure with CuO superconducting plains intercalated by other cationic insulating plains. Three types of superconducting phases are known: Bi2Sr2CuO6+δ (Bi-2201 phase), Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8+δ (Bi-2212 phase) and Bi2Sr2Ca2Cu3O10+δ (Bi-2223 phase), with superconducting transition temperatures (Tc) around 20, 80 and 110 K, respectively.
